Cosmic strings and gravitational waves
Gravitational wave astronomy opens up a new window of exploration in fundamental physics. In this talk, we will focus on cosmic strings and what we can possibly learn from the detection of the corresponding background of gravitational waves in particle physics models such as the gauged B-L. We will also review pulsar timing techniques and discuss how cosmic strings can explain the signal recently observed by the NANOGrav collaboration in a model-independent way.
