Title: The String Landscape and the Swampland

Abstract

String theory, a promising candidate for fundamental laws of Nature, leads to a vast landscape of possible universes. However it has recently been realized that this vast landscape is among the rare exceptions of possible universes that look consistent but actually are not. This larger space of seemingly consistent theories that are not ultraviolet completable in string theory is referred to as the swampland. In the talk I review these topics and explain what they teach us about our universe, its cosmology and its particle content.
