Fluctuation and Noise Letters
Fluctuation and Noise Letters
Fluctuation and Noise Letters (FNL) is unique. It is the only journal that specialises in fluctuations and noise and covers the topics in a completely interdisciplinary way. Its Editors have been selected from among the leading scientists in the field.

FNL places equal emphasis on both fundamental and applied science, especially in interdisciplinary articles on random fluctuations. For example: noise enhanced phenomena including stochastic resonance; 1/f noise; shot noise; fluctuation-dissipation; cardiovascular dynamics; ion channels; single molecules; neural systems; quantum fluctuations; quantum computation; classical and quantum information; statistical physics; degradation and aging phenomena; percolation systems; population fluctuations; fluctuations in social systems; traffic; the stock market; environment and climate; etc. Acceptable submission formats include

  • Letters typically of up to 10 FNL printed pages, but can be longer with good reason.
  • Current Opinions of up to 4 pages. These allow scientists with critical views about important results, either in FNL or in other journals, to submit a comment or note to FNL. Accelerated editorial procedure is used to facilitate lively debate in the field.

  • Topical Reviews typically of up to 15 pages, though longer can be negotiated.

Special Issues, bringing together a collection of papers focused on a particular topic, can be proposed, and the Editor in Chief should be approached in the first instance.

On-line submission uses either LaTeX or Word templates. Accepted papers are published on-line immediately, at no cost to authors. Optionally, authors can choose to pay for Open Access, in which case the electronic version of the paper will be available for free download from the FNL website and can, of course, also be posted anywhere else that the author wishes.
