36th British Universities Summer School in Theoretical Elementary Particle Physics Directions to Busstepp and Pollock Hall Info All students and speakers are going to stay at Pollock Halls (18 Holyrood Park Road, Edinburgh, EH16 5AY). They are even rated! Are you sure, you really want to see the panorama view of a room? We'd rather have a look at the panorama of Arthur's Seat right behind Pollock Halls. Unfortunately, we did not find any pictures of the bar, the winter garden, and the roof top terrace at Pollock Halls. To see where the University and Pollock Halls are located (for example relative to the train station), the University provides some interactive maps. Our big lecture theater is in the psychology department in 7 George Square. To get from Edinburgh airport to the city center or Waiverley station we suggest you take the bright blue bus number 100, also called Airport Link. The double-decker airport bus is fast and leaves right in front of the terminal. A return trip comes to GBP 5. It takes you to Edinburgh's main train station, called Waverly station - ask me why cities like Edinburgh or Geneva or New York cannot just refer to their main train station as `main station'. In any case, if you come by train you should also leave at Waverly. To get from Waverly station to Pollok Halls you can take another local bus or you just walk on foot. Have a look at the maps and the bus lines. If you arrive with several people you might consider taking a cab. Edinburgh airport has two kind of taxis, the usual black London cabs or the so-called aiport taxis which are a little cheaper. They look like soccer-mom station wagons. A (shared) ride to Pollok Halls should be less than around GBP 20 one way. On Sunday, there will be some kind of welcome committee waiting for you at Pollock Halls, to hand you the keys and tell you the way to the next chippy. As you can see from the program there is dinner scheduled for everyone arriving before 7 PM. under heavy construction, last modified 7/27/06, home |
