Hey guys, Here we go - SUPA in their infinite wisdom has (for now) refused to fund us, but we are not as easily deterred. A large room with big blackboards is booked from Monday morning to Friday afternoon. I would recommend to arrive some time Sunday if you have time. There are direct flights to Edinburgh from Toronto, Newark, Atlanta, and lots of European places. You can also fly to Glasgow and take a train, I think. Heathrow I would try to avoid at this point in time (or generally). Local transportation links and hints we will post when we have a second. I would suggest we take turns in giving one informal blackboard talk a day. Local group members and students as well as Glaswegian phenomenologists are very much invited to come.and join. Apart from that we have wireless and encourage everyone to bring their laptops. Does any of you need a desktop or the group laptop? May I introduce - Alberto. He is a QCD postdoc here. He offered to help organize this workshop as long as we do not spread the word that he is involved in BSM activities. The first question to the participants: would you prefer a Georgian B&B in bus distance or a less impressive crappy new Victorian building (post-1860) in walking distance? Don't worry, we will pick a place acceptable for Americans and Europeans, Edinburgh is not England! Concerning funding: we have money to fund this ultra-mini, no problem. So we will cover local cost for everyone non-local plus an average of GBP 300 towards travel. Does this sound reasonable? The splitting of this sum we can talk about later, I would suggest to be nice with the kids on the list. We are very much looking forward to you guys coming. Please tell me if there is some kind of problem we can can help with. Aloha tilman (& Alberto)
