When you cool a mixture of elementary particles (PRETALK for students at 15:30hrs)

When a mixture of molecules is cooled, various chemical components begin to separate out at different temperatures. Similar phenomena may happen for a mixture of elementary particles. Understanding this is important for the late-time dynamics of the early universe, and also of fireballs produced in the high-energy collisions of heavy nuclei.
