New insights into metals from holography
Holographic gauge/gravity duality has given us qualitatively new insights into the behavior of strongly interacting systems. A particularly exciting development has been its application to strongly correlated electron systems. Using holographic dictionary we will show how computations in black hole physics naturally describe states of so-called quantum critical matter where no long¬lived quasiparticles exist. The profound implication is that all macroscopic properties are governed by emergent collective physics instead of conventional electron/electron¬-phonon scattering. Remarkably many of th
